Since the 1980s then the number of tourists and travellers visiting the site have risen by 700%, with a peak at 610,000 people between January and July of 2018.

In 2016 I was in my final year of my Bachelors degree in the UK, and I took part of a charity challenge organised by Choose a Challenge. The goal : Raise a minimum of £3000 and trek the Salkantay Trek in Peru to the famous archeological wonder, the Machu Picchu for Make A Wish Foundation UK. Read the story here !
